I was sitting on a beach in Southern Portugal last year (Portugal has some of the best beaches in the world) and something caught my eye. I immediately grabbed my phone and started filming it.
It was amazing!
After researching, I learned that it was a sand wasp. The beedog was just my nickname for it. It seemed to be digging in the sand just like a dog looking to hide a bone. I told the story to several people and realized this discovery had to be shared in some way.
Other people had to know about this fascinating insect!
That’s when I got the idea for a children’s book. The Beedog!
The story unfolds as Cora and Manny spot a rather strange insect while building a sandcastle on a beach in Portugal. Little did they know, they were about to make an incredible discovery. Find out here!
